My Iyengar Yoga Experience
Well, I went in for my first Iyengar yoga class in over a year. My first Iyengar experience was actually fairly negative. The instructor was amazing at doing yoga but was very strict and would make the class hold the poses until it hurt. I was not happy to go to yoga classes even though it was a beautiful space and had all the latest equipment.
So when my sister invited me to her Iyengar yoga which she does over her lunch breaks, I was a bit apprehensive. I enjoyed my yoga practice at home and was worried that it would be more like that last yoga class. But I figured it was just $5 to try it out so why not?
Getting there during lunch was a mission and I snuck into class ten minutes late. I was glad I went though. The atmosphere wasn’t as formal as my previous yoga class so I didn’t feel like I had to “hold” difficult poses for 30 seconds or more.
The yoga instructor gave us different levels to do so if I couldn’t do the handstand, doing the prep for the handstand was okay. The instructor also supplied yoga blocks and a strap which we used if we needed to. We weren’t forced into using them if we didn’t need to.
We used the wall a lot for the shoulder stands, to start off our shoulder stands and for support with our warrior poses. My plough at the end of class was very much improved and I was very pleased.
I also realized what I had to work on and what I was doing really well. I’ll add the instructor’s name and if they have a website to this blog post
I would definitely give it another go.

Changes to Newbie Yoga
Hello Readers! As you can see there have been some changes to our Newbie Yoga. The transition wasn’t easy and I’m struggling to rebuild the site. Keep in mind this is a personal blog, so I don’t have any help.
Good changes that you may have noticed are:
- There are no Google Ads
- Format is simpler
- I am spell checking and relinking old and out dated links.
So please be patient. A new newbie yoga will be up and running in no time!
